Grüezi

This morning we stopped by the Farmer's Market down the road from me. My daughter (who lived 5 years in Switzerland) squealed when she saw the Swiss cantonal flags on this stall. The folks running the stall bake real Swiss bread. We bought Wurzelbrot, a baguette style Swiss bread and a little whole wheat loaf,  and will be going back next Saturday for more. Polly will get some  "Zopf", a soft, braided, egg bread, a bit like, Challah, but with a different crust and a unique flavor. It is traditionally eaten Sunday morning. I hope they have some rye bread.

Oh my, this bread!!!! Just back from Germany, not far from Basel, where we have "hundreds" of different kind of bread. Missing it here in France!

Gruezi to your daughter and many greetings from the Périgord,

What a treat! It looks delicious! There is a bakery in our town that bakes bread from all over the world. I like to buy authentic Irish soda bread on Mondays.

Oh...Zopf!!...what I wouldn't give for a nice fresh loaf! My sister and I have a whole set of 'in' jokes that came from a spring holiday in Ogeramergau and the testing of Zopf from every bakery.

Hi there,
I just came across your blog through Yvonne from Happy Sonne. The Farmers Market with all that good bread sounds so good. That is what I miss most, european bread. Hope you get some Hefezopf next time. Have a great week.

Tried to leave a comment on the new post above. The link isn't working for some reason.
I like the sound of rain. ;-) Fortunately we are having a bit of rain here today.
