A blast from the past

Today my friend, Mary and drove over to Hillsboro to poke around in the shops. There are several shops that full of vintage things. We had lunch in a pharmacy that has its original soda fountain/lunch counter. It dates from the 1873.

We had sandwiches and diet cokes, valiantly passing up the delightful old-time specialties. What I really would have liked, is one of the soda fountain treats that I remember from my childhood, such as:

 a cherry soda
              or
a chocolate malt

What fun! I don't know that I could have passed up the cherry soda - yum! Thanks for sharing.

The chocolate malt would have called my name! You are made of sterner stuff than I!

I love to eat at counters. One of our local restaurants has a counter, even though it is a semi-upscale place. We always sit at the counter when we do Sunday breakfast there.

There seems to be a group of geezers who meet every morning for breakfast and some kind of game. They were so cute, sitting there when we first came in. We looked around and decided to come back and eat lunch after poking around in the second-hand shops.
