Everything goes with black

Some ladies are all about the "LBD" aka Little Black Dress, but my new "LBF" (F=flower) is one of this year's popular Petunias called, "Phantom - Everything Goes With Black. It is one of the new "Black Velvet" varieties making horticulture news. It has a gold star marking in the center. I planted it with a bronze Ipomoea batatas 'Sidekick Black Heart, a type of "sweet potato vine". I think the combination is quite pleasing. It is sitting on the top shelf of my new étagère. I just hope it doesn't freeze. It was in the 30's(℉) at night this week, but above freezing. So, fingers crossed!

This is a new one to me. I'm going to make a note of it and ask about it at the local garden center. It's beautiful!

Oh yeah!!! I stepped way out of my comfort zone to purchase some of these last year 'cause I'm so cheap and they were so dang expensive. Glad I did. They grow a bit slower than regular petunias but I really enjoyed them. I mixed them with a yellow petunia.

Love the petunia you are featuring...gorgeous. I am in South-central Canada and waiting for the rains and cold nights to disappear...baby sitting so many beautiful petunias indoors and putting them out to harden off when the sun shines. I am now a follower of your blog and look forward to return visits. I invite you to join me as well on my blog at http://atastefultouch.blogspot.com
Hugs, Gayle.

I doubt I would be buying a whole garden-full of them either. But I thought I could swing for just one for a pot.

I'm hoping no more frost now. As you can see the sunshine is fleeting. By the time I snapped the second picture it was gone again. Ah, Spring.

Actually they are petunias, and they are truly amazing. I saw some beautiful zennias on Pinterest. I really want them. They are called Queen Red Lime. They are a lovely soft lavender and lime green. Just so unique. You can check them out here:
