Shrove Tuesday

Back in the day, when I was a little girl and the Episcopal church was still a traditional Christian church, we always had a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper at church. This evening, I will make whole wheat pancakes for supper. I have some fresh blueberries that will be a delicious topping.
Here is a fine website from Woodlands Junior school in Kent, England which tell the history and traditions of the day.

I always loved church social, when there was food. I can still remember cold fried chicken, potatoe salad and deviled eggs. Yum. Pancakes would be a real treat right now. I am your newest follower. Richard from My Old Historic House.

I remember church pancake suppers. We do not have one at our {new} church. I love blueberries and I eat them almost everyday!

Hi Priscilla,

Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog; I'm glad that you've been enjoying it. I've thoroughly enjoyed browsing through yours as well. I daydream about moving to a little English village, so I really love your book about your time there!
