What a lovely gem! Is it a garnet? That was my grandmother's birthstone and I have several pieces of hers. Love it.
It is a royally regal bauble to be sure.
Yes, it is a garnet. I love the fire in the depth of the stone. It isn't my birth stone, but I have always loved them. My grandmother and mother both were January and had garnets, but I am February and do love amethysts. I have some, but I have more garnets. They were usually worn in sets in Victorian times.
